Who this is for
People looking for a serious relationship across borders. That lens changes the ranking: a domestic app with a huge user base is a poor answer to a cross-border question, however good it is at what it does.
If your situation is local and casual, the chooser above points you at the right platform in two lines. We would rather send you somewhere else than pretend one answer fits everyone.
What this is not
A field test. We have not dated our way through these services and we do not claim to. The scores come from what each platform publishes on its own site: billing model, free-tier scope, stated verification and published terms. Every entry is dated.
Why we score renewal so heavily
Because it is where the complaints are. A pay-as-you-go model cannot bill you next month by accident; a subscription can, and in this category it usually does by default. That is a structural difference, not an opinion about any one brand.
What we deliberately do not score
Match quality and success rates. Nobody can verify them, every platform's own figures are marketing, and scoring them would mean inventing a measurement.
Money and relationships
LuluDate is a commercial client of the company that publishes this site. It is labelled as such everywhere it appears and scored on the same five criteria as everything else. It ranks first here because it is built for cross-border matching and charges per interaction rather than by subscription - and on the same page we say plainly that credits make your total spend unpredictable and that the operator earns per message rather than per outcome. Some links are affiliate links and we may earn from them.
